Walk Down the Aisle with Confidence with Our Wedding Beauty Timeline

It goes without saying that your wedding is one of the biggest events in your life.

And while you’re busy picking out the perfect dress, tux, flowers and cake, you also want to give some TLC to your skin so you can look your best for your special day. Perhaps you just want to freshen up your complexion. You might be looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Or maybe you’d like to address other concerns like acne or discoloration.

Whatever your skin care goals, Cayce Medical Spa is here to help. Your best bet is to start your pre-wedding skin care as soon as you get engaged.

To help you plan ahead, we’ve put together a handy wedding beauty timeline.

12 Months Before

Your first step in planning your wedding skin care is to schedule a complimentary skin consultation. During your appointment, your esthetician will listen to your concerns and perform a detailed analysis of your skin. Common skin care goals include addressing issues such as sunspots, wrinkles and pore size. If you have current medical conditions of the skin such as acne, rosacea or psoriasis, you will want to book an appointment with a dermatologist. Based on the results of your consultation, you’ll receive a personalized treatment plan leading up to your wedding.

Keep in mind that some skin treatments require multiple visits, or may simply take some time to show visible results. For these types of services, the farther ahead of time you schedule them the better.

If you have unwanted subdermal fat that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise, noninvasive body contouring may be a good option. Multiple appointments may be required over a period of 4 to 6 months, depending on your desired results. Laser treatments for hair removal and tattoo removal will take up to 8 monthly treatments, so it is best to get these treatments started early.

Along with in-office treatments, your esthetician may recommend a skin care routine you can follow at home. Their recommendations for daily cleansers, moisturizers and sunscreen will be customized for your exact needs for your skin type

6-12 Months Before

If you’d like to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles before you say “I do,” dermal fillers and injectables are good options to consider. Injectable fillers can help with volume and fullness in certain areas, while Botox diminishes unwanted lines for a smoother appearance. Followup treatments are needed to maintain results, so starting a few months ahead of your wedding is recommended. The 6- to 12-month window is also a good time to begin rejuvenating treatments such as intense pulsed light or chemical peels

Be sure to schedule follow-up appointments for treatments you may have started earlier, such as body contouring or scar removal. And as always, keep following your at-home skin care routine faithfully!

3-6 Months Before

Skin discoloration can be caused by many things, such as redness from irritation, visible blood vessels or dark spots with a brown hue. Possible treatments include intense pulsed light, microdermabrasion and chemical peels, and your esthetician will recommend the right one for you during your consultation. One or more follow-up appointments may be needed to achieve the desired results.

If you’ve got unwanted hair, laser hair removal is a safe and effective treatment. Follow-up treatments will ensure that all hair is removed at a mature growth stage, which is when the laser is most effective.

Continue to schedule follow-up appointments for treatments you started earlier and keep following your at-home care as your big day gets closer.

Less than 3 Months Before

About 3 months before your wedding is the last recommended time to try brand new treatments or products, to see how your skin reacts. You may continue receiving follow-up treatments as needed.

One month before your big day is a good time for an exfoliation treatment such as dermaplaning and a DermaGlow to gently slough off dead skin cells for a more youthful glow. This should be followed by a moisturizer for extra hydration and softness.

Schedule a spa facial about one week ahead of time. You’ll receive personalized treatments including cleansing, exfoliation, hydration and antioxidants. This is also your chance to enjoy a luxurious, relaxing experience to relieve that pre-wedding stress!

Finally, practice self-care to give your skin a little extra boost. Get plenty of rest, drink lots of water and wear a full-spectrum sunscreen every day.
If wedding bells are in your future, we invite you to schedule your free skin consultation at Cayce Medical Spa. We congratulate you on your upcoming nuptials and look forward to helping you look and feel your very best when you walk down the aisle!
