Acne and Acne Scars
Treatments for Acne Scars
Our treatment protocols for acne scarring are customized to the type of scarring present, the amount of scarring, and the patient’s treatment goals. First and foremost, we ensure that the patient’s acne is under control to prevent future scarring. We offer acne treatments for all types of scarring, usually utilizing a combination of procedures, and also offer various medical treatment options such as chemical peels, microderms, and extractions. Depending upon severity and type of scar, the following procedures are recommended:
Micro-needling by Eclipse MicroPen
The Micropen (also known as automated micro-needling) is the latest technology in reducing fine lines and acne scars. This procedure has been proven to produce younger looking skin with less signs of aging and damage. This treatment has effectively reduced acne scars, stretch marks, traumatic scars, fine lines and wrinkles, while giving patients an overall appearance of beautiful, glowing skin.
This procedure takes only 15-30 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated. There is no downtime after the treatment, but you will notice a slight redness in the treated area immediately after the procedure takes place. This redness can last from 24 hours to a few days, depending on the patient and the products used after the procedure.
The typical patient goes through 3 to 6 treatments to achieve their desired results. The number of treatments required differs from patient to patient. Schedule a free consultation to meet with one of our skin care experts and create the best treatment plan for your needs.
We offer a variety of peels to help with the treatment and prevention of acne breakouts. These peels include SkinCeuticals Micro-peels and Glytone Peels. Each peel treats specific skin issues and your treatment will be customized to your skin type. Chemical peels are also offered as one of our spa services. Check out our spa page to view a complete list of options for relaxation and rejuvenation.
The TCA Cross procedure treats pitted acne scars by using a small amount of TCA (trichloroacetic acid) in the scar to increase collagen levels and lift the scar to the surface of the skin.
Our non-ablative lasers can result in gradual improvement in scars. Multiple sessions are needed at monthly intervals to help mild/moderate scarring, pore size and skin tone. This is a more gentle option to get the luxurious skin you desire.
After thorough numbing of the skin, the physician can free up sunken acne scars with a fine, sterile needle. This procedure often results in the greatest improvement for depressed ‘rolling’ scars, with rapid healing and improvement in the appearance of the scars after only a few weeks. Multiple sessions may be needed. Treating acne scars is a long term process and there are no quick fixes. Our realistic goal is for scar improvement not elimination.
Fractora is a fractional rejuvenation and resurfacing treatment the reduces lines, wrinkles and acne scarring. It also slows the effects of ageing and restores skin to its youthful appearance- helping you to look and feel younger.
